From Personal Journey to Professional Expertise:
Leading Physiotherapist in Myasthenia Gravis Care

Dr. Liz Plowman, PT, DPT
Meet Dr. Liz Plowman, a passionate and experienced physiotherapist specialized in the treatment of Myasthenia Gravis. With 12 years of expertise in the field, including serving as an active-duty physiotherapist in the US Navy, Liz is dedicated to helping individuals with Myasthenia Gravis achieve their goals and live their best lives.

As a member of the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy, Liz stays at the forefront of advancements in neurological conditions. Inspired by her own journey with Myasthenia Gravis, she noticed a significant knowledge gap in physiotherapy treatment for this condition. Motivated to make a difference, Liz dedicated her time to research and improving care for people with Myasthenia Gravis.

Liz's treatment approaches include graded exercise, energy conservation strategies, and a "start low and go slow" approach to strengthening MG-affected muscles. She also focuses on gait and balance training for safety and functionally training "good compensations" to maximize the use of less affected muscles.

During her time on faculty at Texas Woman's University School of Physical Therapy, Liz conducted several research projects in the treatment of Myasthenia Gravis. She has presented at 4 national conferences and had articles published in Impact magazine, sharing her expertise and findings. Additionally, she has collaborated as an expert guest with various Myasthenia Gravis support groups, providing valuable insights and guidance.

With her unique empathy, personal understanding, and extensive experience, Liz is here to support you on your journey towards better health and improved quality of life. Let's work together to overcome the challenges posed by Myasthenia Gravis and achieve your goals.
